BQ24295: Power management forum

Part Number: BQ24295

Hi

This is the schematic of BA24295 in my board:

I don't change its registers and use its default setting.

when the USB charger is plugged in, the output is 4.8 volts. after removing it I see a 2-volt drop on PMID for about 50 ms and then It comes up to the 5.1 volts.

Is this drop voltage normal? How can I prevent it?

  • Hey ali,

This is normal. There is a 30ms delay between the adapter removal and OTG turn on.

Please see section 8.2.5 Boost Mode Operation from Battery for this description. There is no way around this unless you add some inline smaller boost converter to maintain this voltage or add capacitance. However, you cannot add too much capacitance on PMID. Depending on your PMID load, you may need significant capacitance to maintain the voltage on PMID.
