#1. Is there plan to support TSN on DRA821 SDK?

From the User guide, it only support on AM64x/AM65x:

#2. Is 802.1AS PTP supported on DRA821 CPSW0? I did not find it from feature list from datasheet and TRM,. but it is specified in AM64x and AM65x datasheet and TRM. Is Time synchronization support with IEEE
1588(annex D,E,F) equal to 802.1AS PTP?

My customer wants to choose a platform for TSN switch need support:

#1. 4 ports.

#2. Support 802.1AS, QBV, and QBU.

Which device is suitable? and its SDK supported it also.

Yes DRA821 CPSW5G hardware supports, 802.1AS, 802.1Qbv (also called EST), and 802.1Qbu (preemption). DRA821 does not support cut-thru switching (AM64x does), which is sometimes assumed for TSN, although it is not a IEEE standard.

The software support plans and schedule for Linux and other operating systems will be updated by others.

thanks for the update on switch capability.

Tony, on software, there is regular native linux driver available internally, and team is planning to release in SDK8.4. The driver will be tested for 802.1AS, but not for EST or preemption.

One more clarification, the native Linux driver means the interface and features will work exactly as with Sitara AM64x today's Linux SDK. See https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1009997/am6442-linux-time-sensitive-networking-on-sitara-processors-including-am64x for an example configuration. These same commands (except the cut-thru), scaled up to the number of ports (4 external on DRA821) will work in 8.4.

The 802.1AS solution is linuxptp/ptp4l , which is 802.1AS-2011 compliant and is also used in the example above.

4 external ports is DRA821, Linux SW support will be available in SDK 8.4 later this year.

The software looks exactly like the current AM64x SDK does today, just adds two more external ports.

While AM65x and AM65 can also support 4 external port from 2 ICSSG. The SDK SW can't support Switch use case between 2 ICSSG?

DRA821 SDK 8.4 will include testing 802.1Qbv / EST and 802.1Qbu / IET. Features are time aware shaper and preemption. Just have 2-3 acronyms and names.

Correct. ICSSG is a 3-port building block, one to host and two external ports. It is not designed to work as a wire-rate switch with 4 external 1G ports. It is not a SW support question, but hardware capability.

No, IEEE802.1CB or what is also called FRER in IEEE documentation (Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability) is not supported in DRA821 or Sitara AM64x.

We do plan to support in future devices.
