AM6548: AM65xx IDK - R5F bare-metal debug with CCS

Part Number: AM6548
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS,

Hi everyone,

I am facing a problem in debugging basic bare-metal example on Cortex-R5F core (MCU1_0) of AM65xx IDK board. My environment setup consists of:

- Code Composer Studio v12.40

- AM65xx IDK board

- pdk_am65xx_08_02_00_21 installed on Windows 11

- Compiler TI v20.2.7.LTS

Following the ARM Cortex-R5 bare metal example guide (section 9.9.6. "ARM Cortex-R5"), these compiling warnings are produced:

Launching debugger with AM65xx IDK target configuration and loading .out file as described by the guide, it happens this:

It seems that the program loading into memory fails, maybe because of a linking error. Analyzing the linker script "linker_r5.lds" provided in "PDK INSTALL PATH)/packages/ti/build/am65xx/" folder, I see that MCU_ARMSS0_CORE0_ATCM memory start address is 0x00, while on chapter 2.2 of Technical Reference Manual it is 0x0041000000. Which is the correct one? How it is possible to fix this debug issue?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Hello,

We no longer support PDK(SYSBIOS) related queries. The PDK/SYSBIOS based software and SDKs are all part of legacy software that is no longer supported or maintained.

You may want to evaluate 3Ps like Mistral, KPIT, Elco Solutions for your project specific needs.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your answer.

Just to verify that I understood correctly: are you suggesting to use 3Ps library instead of legacy PDK to implement software for my AM6548 processor?

In addiction to this, my code will be part of a biomedical application so I will need to certify it. According to you, which solution would be more suitable for my project?

    Best regards,

    Chiara Carlini

  • Hi Chiara Carlini,

I was suggesting you to get help from 3Ps for how to use TI's PDK. Hopefully they can help you get the biomedical certification.

    Regards,

    Jianzhong
