  • Hi,

    I believe you are using the 9.0 SDK. The saveenv command is deprecated. You ll have to have your bootargs in the uenv.txt file. In the boot logs you have shared I do not see any crash. Does it hang after the last line?

    platform 5d00000.r5f: assigned reserved memory node vision-apps-r5f-dma-memory@a4000000

    ?

    Best Regards,

    Keerthy

  • Hi @Keerthy

    Yes, Crash on this line, Then after that the serial port doesn't output anything and can't input

  • Hi,

    Is the vision_apps overlay getting loaded during device tree loading?

    Also is there any error log after the last line?

    Regards,

    Keerthy

  • Hi, Keerthy

    All the logs are up there, after that the device is stuck and doesn't output anything

  • Working FDT set to 88000000
    ERROR: reserving fdt memory region failed (addr=880000000 size=27000000 flags=4)

    That seems to be the root cause of the error. When you are trying to load the reserved memory from U-boot it's not able to reserve and potentially that gets overwritten.

    Is this default SK booting or you have custom changes and also can you confirm if sd boot works as expected?

    Best Regards,

    Keerthy

    Hi, Keerthy

    Yes, this is the default NFS boot configuration for j721e-sk, and you can see that there is an env print for u-boot in the log above. And SD card boot also has this error you mentioned, but it can boot normally, the log of normal SD card boot is as follows:

    sd boot.txt

  • Hi,

    Just to narrow down the issue. Couple of things:

    • Can you double check if the r5f firmware are same on nfs and SD file systems.
    • Remove the r5f nodes from dts and check if you can boot to prompt?

    Best Regards,

    Keerthy

    ----------------------------------------

    Hi Keerthy

      1. Yes, I cheked the MD5 of all the files in lib/firmware/vision_apps_eaik in nfs and sd. I can confirm that the files are the same.

      2. How to remove r5f node from dts? Can you elaborate?

    Also, I tried to change bootcmd as follows and the nfs method booted normal. Is this the correct way to do it?

    Original bootcmd:

    bootcmd=run findfdt;  run envboot; run setup_${kern_boot}; run init_${rootfs_boot}; run get_kern_${kern_boot}; run get_fdt_${kern_boot}; run get_overlay_${kern_boot}; run run_kern'

    Modify to:

    bootcmd=run findfdt;  run main_cpsw0_qsgmii_phyinit; run boot_rprocs; run envboot; run setup_${kern_boot}; run init_${rootfs_boot}; run get_kern_${kern_boot}; run get_fdt_${kern_boot}; run get_overlay_${kern_boot}; run run_kern'

  • Hi,

    bootcmd=run findfdt;  run main_cpsw0_qsgmii_phyinit; run boot_rprocs; run envboot; r

    Okay. I understood so in the case of NFS the remote cores were not booted from U-Boot which is a must. So your changes look good. Please go ahead and use the above bootargs. The expectation is U-Boot should boot the remote cores before kernel starts. So your changes are correct.

    Thanks,
    Keerthy

  • Okay, thank you for your support. Please synchronize the update of sbin/setup-uboot-env.sh in the SK-TDA4VM SDK if you can!
