TDA4VM-Q1: Decoupling capacitors on unused VDDS_MMC0

Part Number: TDA4VM-Q1

Hello,

AM6x/DRA8x/TDA4x Schematic Checklist Tool recommends to follow EVM decoupling strategy, which uses 2x100nF and 2x1uF for VDDS_MMC0 (PROC078 001 J721EXSOMG01EVM rev A).

Can the amount of capacitors be reduced when no MMC0 interface is used?

Regards, Peter

  • Yes, recommended decoupling can be reduced since that interface is not being used. Keeping 1x 0.1uF Dcap at power pin would be good practice. Please be aware any unused interface still needs a correct supply voltage applied.  This can be supported by combining it with a like voltage supply.
