Hi TI,

I just have a quick clarification regarding the AM65x, as I'm in the planning stages of an industrial project for which the AM65x appears to have the right characteristics. However, I've seen on the PRU-ICSS-INDUSTRIAL-SW page, and on other forum posts (like here and here) that the AM654x only supports EtherCAT, but not Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus Slave/Master, HSR/PRP, etc.

Those linked forum posts are several years old now, so I figured I'd ask if there are any plans to add those additional industrial protocols to the AM65x platform? If not I will use the AM64x instead, but the inclusion of the GPU in the AM65x makes it quite a compelling proposition for projects where an HMI or UI of some description may be required in the future.

    Hi,

    We are not actively promoting the AM65x for new designs and I would recommend looking at the AM64x. (we do not support the industrial protocols on AM65x).  You could consider using the AM62x + AM64x if you need the GPU support as that combination in all likely hood will be lower cost than an AM65x only solution.

    Hi Mike,

    Thank you for clarifying, that all makes sense. I think I'll proceed with the AM64x for the time being, and look at a multi-processor solution in the future if the need for a GPU arises.
