AM623: AM6232ATCGGAALW

Part Number: AM623

Tool/software:

Hi TI

        I used AM6232ATCGGAALW & TPS6521903RHBR solution in my project.We take 5 PCBAs doing temperature test at 60 ℃ for 48 hours.The test program makes the CPU loading @ 85~93 percent,AM6232ATCGGAALW  Tc 80.5℃(Tj83℃) .TPS6521903RHBR Tc 77.5℃. But 2 of them failed the test,First  failed after 17 hours,second failed after 43 hours .

The test program monitor the CPU loading above 100.

By the way,We take these EUTs doing temperature test at -20 ℃ for 48 hours. All the 5 EUTs can pass the test.

Do you think the temperature is the key element? Please give your kindly propossal, thanks.

  • Hello Lin Yang,

    Thank you for the query.

    AM6232ATCGGAALW  Tc 80.5℃(Tj83℃) .TPS6521903RHBR Tc 77.5℃. But 2 of them failed the test,First  failed after 17 hours,second failed after 43 hours .

Please elaborate what you meany by fail and how you are measuring the temperature.

Can i assume the testing is done with some enclosure.

  • Hi  Sreenivasa,

Add more details about the test: the test is running in a oven.

In the high temp test, AM6232 will run with certain program whose memory will be occupied with about 80-90%.  But after 17 hours, it shows that the memory has been occupied above 100%. Once reach 100%, the test will be seen as fail.

In our temp test, the chip works well.

Could u kindly help to give some advise? thanks!

  • Hello Lin Yang,

    Thank you.

In our temp test, the chip works well.

Please elaborate. I assume the above is the temp test.

Please share details about the memory used and if the program that you run for testing is a standard or proprietary program.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • 1、Firstly, I need to clarify that the  CPU loading is100%,not the memory.

2、Please elaborate what you meany by fail and how you are measuring the temperature.

-->When the processorload reaches 100%, the testing program will automatically stop.

As mentioned earlier, generally the testing program results in processorload of @ 85%~93%.

We read the AM6232 T-junction via command ,we measure the T-case via thermocouple sensor.

3Can i assume the testing is done with some enclosure.

-->Yes ,we do the test in a thermal chamber.

4、This is a proprietary program designed for testing.

  • Hello Lin Yang,

    Thank you.

I need to clarify that the  CPU loading is100%,

I checked internally and we need more details to review internally or support. Help me understand what you mean by CPU loading of 100%.

Please share the commands you are running to load the CPU to 100%.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hi  Sreenivasa,

The command is "top"-->the CPU loading85~93%

-->the CPU loading100% ,Command provided by our software supplier, we will ask again

  • Hello Lin Yang,

    Thank you.

Let me know when you receive inputs from the supplier.

Here are some additional inputs i received

The thread is confusing, but the way I am reading it they are monitoring CPU load and when it reaches 100% the test asserts an exception via some watchdog monitoring process load and the test is a fail. I’m not sure the relationship they are trying to draw to temperature. They are specifying a Tj of 83C which is well within ROC and will not cause issues.

It seems the application is loading the processor to 100% which is the issue. They would need to confirm that they have some watchdog monitoring for 100% processor load and if this is the issue they are trying to resolve. I am also not clear why they consider 100% processor load to be an exception.

  • Hi  Sreenivasa,

Our calculation method is different from the supplier's, and their results will be greater than ours.

The following is the loading calculation formula they used:

    ((user  + nice+system+idle +iowait+ irq + softirq +steal + guest +guest_nice)-(idle +iowait)))/(user  + nice+system+idle +iowait+ irq + softirq +steal + guest +guest_nice)

  • Hello Lin Yang,

    Thank you.

Can you review my precious message and provide your thoughts on the cause of software stopping at 100% CPU loading.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa
