TMS320DM6441 vs TMS320DM6446 difference?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM6446, TMS320DM6441

Is there any difference between TMS320DM6441 and TMS320DM6446. I am currently evaluating my firmware on DM6446 but in my final design we are planning to use DM6441 and would like to know whether there is any difference between the two. According to what I have seen, both are from the same series of processors & I dont seem to find any difference, so am continuing my development on DM6446, but I wish to know if I am missing out on any difference.

Other query is that is there any tool provided on TI website to compare 2 processors or micros like the above two or any tool that will list down the details of a processor as summary? This would be very helpful as well.

  • Hi,

The DM6446x device is a superset of the DM644?x devices. What this means is that the other devices are light on peripherals and also the power needed to operate the device.

The respective data sheets for each devices have this information. I suggest you consult these documents to inusre that you are using the peripherals supported and also the power requirement.

So long as you are using the peripherals that are supported by the DM6441x device and you and operating at the DM6441x power requirement, then you should have no problem. Btw, the devices are pin compatible from the Device perspective.

  • Thanks a lot Zegeye I am referring to the datasheets also. And it seems to cover almost everything except that DM6441DSP works at lower frequencies.

You could also answer my other query @ http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/99/t/145962.aspx

    Thanks in advance.
