TDA4VM: FAILING to Boot TDA4VH

Like I can boot the default firmwares, that is already present in the board,

This is my custom firmware, Its not throwing any error while compiling and linking but its crashing when I load them on the board.

I need to know what is the reason behind the crash, is there a way to debug the issue.

When I tried to connect to the onboard debugger, I am not able to set up facing issue in firmware update

Just to clarify,is it that it is booting upto linux kernel from SD card using the default firmwares on the board,but,when the C7x  firmware is updated, it is not booting upto linux?

Can you also help us in elaborating on the steps you followed for booting from SD card?

I kept the SW7 and SW11 in SD card boot mode,

is it that it is booting upto linux kernel from SD card using the default firmwares on the board -> yes

but,when the C7x  firmware is updated, it is not booting upto linux? yes , it crashes at c71x,

is there a way to debug , because I made changes in code and generated a firmware, Its generating, linker is not throwing any errors . I need to debug why my firmware is crashing with the above image

I use create_sdcard.sh script in linux sdk for sd card creation, i loaded my custom firmware

Hi Gowtham,

Since you can boot the default firmwares,your custom firmware may be overwriting critical memory regions, including the Device Tree (DTB).
Ensure your firmware isn’t corrupting U-Boot, Linux, or the DTB.
Could you also check if the DTB exists in U-Boot and try to manually load the DTB in U-Boot.

make linux_fs_install_sd 
command, to update the firmware

Does the board boot properly with default FW?
What changes are you making in C7x FW
are you changing the memroy map?

No I am not using the above,

Yes, with default firmware its running fine, I am allocating few dymanic memory for my applications.

I am not changing memory map, I am using same as vision apps memory ipc vring etc, I took same .

But when i load firmware , where I allocate dynamic memory for my class object. I need to know if there is a boot time crash issue , how will i debug the firmware crash issue in general???

Are you copying your firmware manually to /lib/firmware?

How are you allocating the dynamic memory, what API are you using?

Yes, I copy manually and change the soft link.

new() I am using this, If i don't allocate its not crashing.

I want to know why a dynamic memory allocation can crash uboot itself or what can be the reason for crash?

You can debug FW issues using CCS

I have created a separate thread for that, I am stuck in there as well , as I am not able to debug using ccs ans C71x is not going into debug state. Attaching the question link here

Whay is the Size of your object?
it might be overflowing the HEAP and might be corrupting
other u-boot memory sections

around 6MB,

The executable or the .a where I am allocating the library,

FW as a whole .xe71 is 16 MB

.a file is 6MB

ok, But to debug a C71 firmware crash what are the ways to do ?

Hi Gowtham,

CCS is the best way to debug FW crash
Please follow up in the other thread about CCS issue

I suggest you connect to C7x via CCS, with default FW
before you debug with your custom FW
