Overheating of AM3874 custom board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3874

Hi,

We have an overheating issue on our custom AM3874 board. It is most likely some misconfiguration, but very useful would be to have answers for these questions:

- What is typical processor's case temperature on TI8148 EVM with most peripherals enabled?

- What could be typical processor's case temperature when operating at 600MHz/1GHz (with 2GB DDR3 RAM@400/800MHz) with most peripherals enabled (SATA, 2xUSB, 6 UARTS, 1 x 1Gb ethernet, 1HDMI display, 2CAN, but no PCIe, no Audio, no Video capture)?

- Does such configuration require heatsink?

- Is there any possibility to access core temperature? (I presume there is some internal temperature sensor, but could not find any related register in Datasheet / Reference Manual)

- Does default Linux (for TI8148 EVM board) require special modifications in terms of power management (voltage levels and so on) for such configuration?

Could anybody help, please?

Best regards,

Greg
