Pull-down reason of 470Ω recommended TRST pin of TMS320VC54

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5402, TMS320VC5416

 Hi all,

I have noticed that in the revision of the data sheet G, the following contents have been added.

Although this pin includes an internal pulldown resistor, a 470-Ω external pulldown is required.
If the TRST pin is connected to multiple DSPs,a buffer is recommended to ensure the VIL and
VIH specifications are met.

Please teach a reason added to a data sheet?

  • Please refer to the "IMPORTANT NOTICE" page at the end.

"TI warrants performance of its hardware products to the specifications applicable at the time of sale in accordance with TI’s standard

warranty. Testing and other quality control techniques are used to the extent TI deems necessary to support this warranty. Except where

mandated by government requirements, testing of all parameters of each product is not necessarily performed."

Specific to this update is also documented n the Revision History table.

     Regards.

  • I recognize IMPORTANT NOTICE, and I am fully aware that the connection 470Ω is "recommended".

I want to know why 470 ohm connection was recommended in this timing.

Did you added to the document because there was a problem caused by the user application ?

    Regards.

  • I have not worked directly on this device which is in production for 15 years. I will check.

However, there is rigid guidelines to update data sheet and requires cross-functional team to signoff. All information in data sheet is to ensure the product performs as specified.

    Regards.
