TL16C750 ADS# line

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL16C750

Hello,

I have a hardware which utilizes a TL16C750 for additional UART functionality.  TL16C750 is connected to the emif bus of my DM368 processor.  I actually have two questions:

1. The hardware designer has connected E_A0..2 to A0..2 of TL16C750.  E_BA0 and E_BA1 are not connected to anything.  I have realized that my addresses are being asserted on 32 bit boundaries which makes Bank Addresses mentioned above a suspect.  Is it possible to address 8 bit memory map devices using emif without having to use E_BA0 and E_BA1?

2. The ADS# (Address Strobe) provided to TL16C750 is always low.  Does this device operate properly in this case?  Does ADS# require to transition in order to be able to communicate?  The data sheet says that while ADS# is low CS#, OE#, and WR are latched so it seems that it should work.

The problem that I have is even though i have perfect timing as far as CS#, OE#, adn WR# are concerned I cannot read or write form the device.  Any ideas/

Regards,
