C5505 I2S driving capability

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV5624, ADS7888

Hi,

We are thinking to interface ADC and DAC using C5505 I2S. Since we have multiple ADC/DACs on board, One ADC and DAC might need to be connected to the same I2S port. Does anyone know if the C5505 I2S port (in master mode) have enough driving capability for 2 slave devices? In our project, the ADC we are considering is TI's ADS7888 and DAC is TI's TLV5624. C5505's I2S will work in master mode,  and the same I2S's SCLK and FS will go to both ADC and DAC, while DIN goes to ADC and DOUT goes to DAC. The SCLK is around 20M to 25MHz. Does anyone konw if this connection will work? We are not particullar sure if  C5505's I2S SCLK can drive 2 chips at the same time.

Any commens / suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks

Shen

  • Shen,

I don't think it is a problem to drive the two device via I2S bus. I checked out input impedence of the two devices (calculated from sink current) and it seems that the C5505 I2S can drive both devices. However, please confirm it with the ADC and DAC apps.

    Best Regards,
