Hello,
I am having some trouble working with the analog video encoder on the DM3730.
I am trying to write raw VBI data into the vertical blanking area of the analog video output.
I have successfully setup the registers on a DM648 based system I have, and the RAW VBI data output is working.
The "DMS 648 Video Port User guide" has been very helpful. It includes register descriptions, as well as examples of register settings for specific analog video standards.
This document is "SPRUEM1B–May 2007–Revised November 2010". It has timing examples in it, that graphically explain what the registers are doing. an example can be found on page 116. I have included a snapshot of
this at the end of this email.
I cannot find similar information in the DM35x or DM37x technical reference manuals. The register descriptions are there, but they are much more complicated than the register settings for the DM648. I am finding it difficult to understand the complex timing, especially the concept of "internal" and "external" timing. Is there a better document to help me figure out how this video encoder works? I have examined the data sheet, apps notes, and TI wiki, but have not been able to find anything too useful.
Below is an example from the DM648 manual, it clearly shows video timing and register setting relationships.
Thank you so much for your help.
Regards,
Russell
Hi Russell,
The whole public documentation is available at the dm3730 product page:
http://www.ti.com/product/dm3730/technicaldocuments
The only helpful information that I found is in the TRM section 7.6.2.6 Vertical and Horizontal Timings.
