66AK2H12: DDR3 address line

Part Number: 66AK2H12

We have a custom board using the 66A2K12.     Currently, we're using it successfully with 1GB DDR3 components connected to DDR3A and to DDR3B.    We'd like to revise our custom board to be compatible with either 1GB or 2GB components.    The only difference, interface-wise, is the 2GB has an extra address line (A15).    With the 1GB part, is it acceptable to pull the 66A2K12 DDRA/B A15 lines to ground, rather than to leave them floating (as recommended per the Hardware Design Guide).

Thanks,

Scott

  • Hello Scott,

Do you want to make the design which is compatible for both 1GB and 2GB memory part ? If so, i would recommend connect the A15 address line from SoC to memory. When you are using 1GB memory device, the A15 line would be reserved and there wont be any impact on connecting the line to the processor. For 2GB, it would make the connection.
