AM3352: How to skip EMAC boot

Hi,

I am using SYSBOOT sequence "10000" (XIP -> UART0 -> EMAC1 -> MMC0) and our boot device is the MMC0.

I know EMAC1 boot takes 4.5 min to give up trying at other threads.

So I removed ethernet PHY device completely on the board but the EMAC boot still tried for 4.5 minutes.

Does EMAC boot try boot-up sequence even no PHY device there? Is there any condition to skip this quickly?

We don't have any choice but the boot sequence "10000" in current hardware.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi,

No, there is no workaround to skip EMAC boot. These timeouts are fixed in ROM code.

Hi Luke,

One workaround possible I could think off is to boot MLO from UART0. Then make the MLO to load uboot and kernel further from SDCard. For this UART0 should be connected to a PC(or another Board) always and MLO should come from PC(or another Board). If this condition can be met, then you can boot faster than 4.5 mins. Even for this you might need to change the code, not available readily. Otherwise as Biser suggested, it is not possible.
