SUGGESTION NEEDED REGARDING DSP BOARD

Hello,

I am fourth year Electronics and Telcommunication student.I need a DSP board that can take real time data from digital camera and image processing functions like matching can be performed.Python support would be excellent for this job,Also it must have memory on board to store 50-100 samples of images.It must have software support for image processing.

Please suggest a board for this application available from TI.

Thanks for you reply.

From the given links you sent I found a board OMAPL138 but from the information provided in the datasheet I am unable to comprehend will it get connected directly with an usb camera(web cam) and also will the C674x dsp on it would be able to process data which is not from a composite camera source?

Hi Sanskar,

Maximum capture resolution using USB web cam on OMAPL138 is 320x240. The capture happens on ARM host processor. To send the buffer to DSP for processing need IPC mechanism. IPC examples are in
RTOS_SDK/ipc_x_xx_xx_xx/examples/OMAPL138_linux_elf/ex02_messageq

My recommendation would be to use AM5706 device for USB based capture and processing the video on DSP.
