Why TMDXIDK5728 not available in TI store? I have used TMDXIDK5728 as reference for my EtherCAT master design so that I will reduce my testing effort. Is there any defect in this board design?
Hi Robert,
If I buy TMDXIDK5728 from mouser stock for my testing, will it work? Does TI provide support for the same?
Regards,
K.A.Rajeshwar.
They are likely the same design - with the TMDSIDK574 being a newer revision (include some updates/fixes). For this reason - I would recommend purchasing the latest design.
I have designed my board same as TMDXIDK5728. Is there any update needed from hardware side.
I am planning to confirm my EtherCAT Master design by cross-checking with TMDXIDK5728 and Slave with . What will be the impact?

Hi Robert,
I understand AM574x will be superset of AM572x. But TI gives detailed Explanation on EtherCAT with AM5728 only. If we go with AM574x there is no design guide on EtherCAT Master development. What should I do?
The AM5728 IDK was relaunched as the AM5729 IDK: https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSIDK572
The AM5728 IDK User’s Guide does have a list of known deficiencies that should be accounted for in a production design if using the IDK as a reference. But other than that, should be no hardware/firmware issues.
I don’t know of any issues that would prevent the EtherCAT stack from running on AM574 IDK.
