TMS320C6713B: A12/B11 pin configuration

Part Number: TMS320C6713B

Hi,

My customers have a question about the C6713B datasheet.

・TMS320C6713B Floating-Point Digital Signal Processor datasheet
Old version:SPRS186I
New version:SPRS294B

The Revision History of SPRS294B have the following description.

///////
Scope: Updated information on McASP, McBSP and JTAG for clarification. Changed Pin Description for A12 and B11 (Revisions SPRS294 and SPRS294A). Updated Nomenclature figure by adding device−specific information for the ZDP package. TI Recommends for new designs that the following pins be configured as such:
・Pin A12 connected directly to CVDD (core power)
・Pin B11 connected directly to Vss (ground)
///////

Customers are probably redesigning.

Question:
Why did the pin configuration change?
What are the advantages of connecting pins A12/B11 to CVDD/GND?

Regards,

Rei

    This is a very old device. Most of the folks that were associated with the design or collateral are no longer in TI or with the business unit.

    I looked through the revision history internally but I do not see any reasons being archived. So will not be able to address/support your deeper questions on why these changes were recommended or their advantage.

    If it is new design/redesign, I would ofcourse recommend that you follow the guidelines/recommendations in the datasheet.

    Regards
