TMS320VC5402: Longevity of LQFP package

Part Number: TMS320VC5402

On behalf of a customer:

The BGA package version of the TMS320VC5402 went EOL some time ago, which forced a redesign of the product into the 'C5517.

Another product is based on the same processor but in the LQFP package.

Will the LQFP package live on for some time or will it be EOL as well some time soon?

thanks, Best, Steve

  • Hi Steve

The C5402 EOL was due to an equipment EOL notice from our substrate supplier, which resulted us phasing out certain Microstar BGA packaging devices and offering an LTB.

Most of the impacted devices have been converted to nFBGA package.

For only very few select devices like C5402 it was decided not to migrate  to the nFBGA package.

Do note that C5402A BGA was migrated to the new nFBGA.

There are no such known issues with the LQFP package.

Please also have your customer refer to our product lifecycle and

and general quality guidelines and specifically the section on PRODUCT WITHDRAWAL/DISCONTINUANCE

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Mukul
