TMS320C5505: TMS320C5505AZCH15 ,Die Temperature

Hi Team,

We are using TMS320C5505AZCH15 in our project . Since the operating temperature is only upto 70°C ,we want to know the options to read the die temperature from the DSP.

Our PCB is getting too hot because of other components So we want to make sure the DSP is within safe operating range or not.

Please letme know if there is an option to read die temperature from software.

Hello Leo

No on die temperature sensors on c55x family of devices. You will need to rely on case temperature measurements to do the thermal assessment

One more question...

Do you have any report or data on DSP behavior ,if someone operate the DSP beyond 70°C.

We have 2 temperature skew the 0-70c and -10-85C , i believe the 85C is only available for TMS320C5505AZCH10, TMS320C5505AZCH12 , and not 15.

If you are asking for what happens if you are running beyond 70C, the answer is going to be that you are running out of datasheet specification - we guarantee /test operations within the datasheet specification and will not be able to speculate on what will go if you are running outside the temperature specification in the test.

Apart from any potential timing issues, please also note the POH table/operating life time degradation indicated in Table 4.1 for running beyond 70C etc.
