AM1808: DDR2 Initialization

Part Number: AM1808

Hi Sitara support Team,

Please let me know if the OCD function of DDR2 is used or not in AM1808.

Reference Manual for AM1808 "OMAP-L138C6000DSP+ARMProcessor (spruh77)": page 408,
"15.2.13 Auto-Initialization Sequence" states that the DDR2 memory initialization sequence complies
with JESD 79D-2 specification.

Q. During the initialization sequence, are you using the EMRS command to write values
    other than ALL1 or ALL0 to DDR_A[9:7] in EMRS(1)?

My customer has not changed any settings for this item in the program he created, and is using it as default.

Best regards,
Kanae

  • Hi Sitara support Team,

Here is the background for the above post.

My customer is currently considering adding a combination of DDR2 memory
connected to the AM1808 in his existing system.

     -DDR2 under consideration: Micron MT47H32M16NF-25E:H

Since the DDR2 memory being considered does not support the OCD function feature,
he is asking to confirm that AM1808 does not write any value other than ALL1 or ALL0
to DDR_A[9:7] in EMRS(1) during initialization.

DDR2 memory currently in use is a product that supports the OCD function.

-DDR2 currently in use: Winbond W9751G6KB-25

    Software info:
    eForce uC3 Standard
    Using μITRON AM1808 pre-installed OS.

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Kanae, this should be answered by looking at their bootloader code.  Did they use a bootloader from one of our SDKs?  I don't have any insight into the software you mention in the post. Can they find where in their bootloader the ddr is initialized and see if the OCD bitfield is written?

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi James,

    Thank you for your support.
I will check with the customer about your answer.

Based on your answer, am I correct in understanding
that if the customer uses the same boot loader,
changing the DDR2 will result in the same settings?

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Kanae,

yes, the bootloader DDR configuration will not change based on the memory.

    Regards,

    james

  • Hi James,

    Thank you for your support.

I will share it with my customer.
