TDA4VM: TDAVM serdes1 PCIE_REFCLK1P/PCIE_REFCLK1N use external clock issue

Part Number: TDA4VM

Dear expert:

we use TDA4VM board connet with other platform soc through PCIE. and we want to use TDA4VM PCIE1 as ep mode.We check the evm schematic(As shown below) and

find PCIE_REFCLK1P/PCIE_REFCLK1N pin can use external ref clock. But we searched the TRM document and did not find out how to configure serdes1 to use an external reference clock.

My question is whether we can use an external clock in sedes1, and if so, how to configure it ?

thanks.
  • Currently the EVM is setup to generate both the PCIe clock to the TDA4VM and the clock to the PCIe connector via external device.  The EVM can be modified to change the clock source to be the TDA4VM.  Resistors need to be moved to bypass the external clock generate.  Below is snapshot of EVM schematic (common processor board), which includes the population options for selecting the clock source.  Note this is for PCIe1 port, but other PCIe interface on EVM have similar configuration options. Once the modification are made, the TDA4VM can be programmed to drive the PCIe reference clock.
