AM3352: Unique keys

Hello,
my customer wants to implement a license mechanism for his application/SW. What unique keys can he use in AM335x?
What I know are the 2 address spaces for the MAC ID.

Hi Holger,

You are right. The mac_id0_lo and mac_id0_hi registers in the control module for Ethernet MAC address of the device can be used.
You can find some details in AM335x TRM section 9.3.1 CONTROL_MODULE Registers at:

Probably you have found in the TRM section 1.1.2 Device Identification description of Device_ID register which specify silicon revision, device part number and Manufacturer's ID but this does not guarantee unique value for each one am335x processor because device part number field has only 16 bits.
Therefor I think the MAC ID is the best choice for unique key.

one more question:
is the partnumber a consecutive number which is different in each production charge and then repeated in case of an overflow? Then it would be interested for the customer and it would be unlikely that a customer has 2 devices with same part numbers.

No, the partnum bitfield in the DEVICE_ID register is fixed to 0xB944 for AM335x devices. MAC addresses are the only unique values that are different for each and every AM335x device.
