TDA4VM: About the accuracy for Hardware TimeStamp of MCAN

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi,

I found MCAN has hardware timestamp in 12.4.4.4.4 Timestamp Generation of TDA4 TRM.

And I tested the MCAN driver, it seems working.

I would to know when the hardware timestamp is appended.

1st byte Can Data of a CAN Frame or one complete CAN Frame received?

Is the Timestamp synced form GTC?

(12.10.1 Global Timebase Counter (GTC))

KS

  • Hi,

Quoting the TRM "On start of a frame reception/transmission the counter value is captured and stored into the timestamp section of an Rx Buffer/Rx FIFO (RXTS[15-0]) or Tx Event FIFO (TXTS[15-0]) element."

So it'll be the start of the frame in your case.

This comes from the MCAN ICLK, let me check if this can be synced with GTC.
