AM5728: I2C Slave mode

Hello,

I was wondering if there's a good starting place of how I can get an I2C device to be in slave mode in the Linux user space for the AM5728?

I am on the ti-processor-sdk-linux-am57xx-evm-06.02.00.81, and I found great examples of I2C in master mode under example-application/omapconf-1.74.

However, I was unable to find any regarding slave mode!

Hi,

I2C Slave mode is not supported in the AM57x Processor SDK Linux. See software-dl.ti.com/.../I2C.html

Hey Biser,

Thanks for the info!

If the SDK doesn't support it, the hardware does right? On the AM5728 technical reference pg.5715 I see it mentions, "Each multimaster HS I2C controller can be configured to act like a slave or master I2C-compatible device." There's also this diagram too I found :

Does this mean I'll have to write some kernel/user space code that follows the above block diagram?

Correct, the I2C hardware does support Slave mode, but you need to write your own software. This mode is not supported by existing software provided by TI.
