AM6526: Can SDXC be supported by AM65x and AM654x IDK ?

Part Number: AM6526

Hi,

Can AM65x support SDXC ?

Can AM654x IDK support SDXC ?

The customer tried to boot from SDXC card on AM654x IDK board, but it failed despite being able to boot from SDHC.

According to the following description and figure in AM65x TRM, I think AM65x can support SDXC.

12.3.6.5.1.6 Card Initialization and Identification (for SD I/F)

Figure 12-2293 and Figure 12-2294 shows initialization and card identification sequence for the Standard

Capacity SD Memory Card (SDSC), the High Capacity SD Memory Card (SDHC) and the Extended

Capacity SD Memory Card (SDXC) that was based on the Physical Layer Version 3.01. Refer to the latest

sequence.

However, AM654x IDK User’s Guide describes “SDHC Interface”. Can AM654x IDK support SDXC ?

3.3.5.2.1 SDHC Interface

The processor card provides an SD card interface through a connector J17, connected to the MMC1 port

of the AM65x processor. The SD card interface supports UHS1 operation, including I/O operations at both

1.8 V and 3.3 V. The I/O voltage is controlled using the internal SDIO_LDO, which provides the I/O

voltage for the MMC1 port.

Or is there any limitation similar to AM57x ?
