AM5708: Why does vdd_mpu not exist in AM5708 datasheet

Part Number: AM5708
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5706

Hi i am implementing a industrial design using AM5708, so where has the vdd_mpu gone?, if you have tied it to vdd, is AMS not really possible as listed in your hardware guides?

  1. Document SPRS961F–AUGUST2016–REVISEDNOVEMBER2019 Which is the AM5706, AM5708 data sheet has no vdd_mpu pin/pins anywhere on the sheet, all the vdd/vdds are listed p52-p53. And after having looked the entire document over several times in detail and at length, I can find no other reference to vdd_mpu.
  2. AND YET
  3. p439 section 3.3.4  Document Literature Number: SPRUHZ7I August 2015–Revised April 2019 the AM571x and AM570x Technical reference manual, references vdd_mpu pin.
  4.  How the hell is AVS correctly implemented and why is this not mentioned in PRUHZ7I ?? like anything on p439 to explain the lack of vdd_mpu on variant processors would be great plus we might have software guys completely in the dark writing to registers that are not there.

  • Hi, ,

    The TRM book (SPRUIHZ7I) covers both AM571x and AM570x devices. There is a note under Figure 3-19. PMFW Overview, actually at the very first pace where this pad is mentioned in the Power Chapter, that explains the merge of the vdd_mpu and vdd_gpu in the AM570x family of devices. The DM book (SPRS961F) covers only AM5708 device, and there the vdd_mpu pad is not missing, it does not exist in this device. The Note is:

    NOTE: The following device pads are not supported on the AM570x family of devices:
    • vdd_rtc, vdda_rtc, rtc_osc_xi_clkin32, rtc_osc_xo (RTC is not supported);
    • vdd_mpu, vdd_gpu (merged with VD_CORE in package);
    • vdd_iva (merged with VD_DSPEVE in package)
    For complete list of supported device pads, see device-specific Data Manual.

    About your #4 item - we will consider putting the same Note under the Table 3-26. Voltage Sources for the next release.

    Regards,

    Mariya

  • Thank you very very much :)
