AM5728: Download and execute ".out" file on DSP from ARM Linux user space application

Hi,

We are using AM5728 in our project and we have a requirement as mentioned below.

The ARM Linux user space application will receive DSP file (user sends *.out file from PC GUI) over Ethernet and copies into some directory, the application then loads the file onto the DSP and executes it.

We were able to achieve this in the previous version of the system where we had OMAP-L138 and used DSPLink to load and execute the DSP file from ARM.

So, now we are trying the same feature in AM5728 processor. Is DSPLink supported in this processor? If not, how to achieve this feature?

Can I please get some information about this along with some documents/links and example programs.

Vijay,

There are two methods for loading and running from the A15. You can use remoteproc during uboot -- http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/docs/latest/linux/Foundational_Components_U-Boot.html#remoteproc

or launch through OpenCL during runtime -- http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/docs/latest/linux/Foundational_Components_OpenCL.html?highlight=opencl#opencl

Vijay,

For remoteproc the ipc example will serve as a good reference. Please see https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM65X/latest/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components_IPC.html#ipc for details. There is a general overview as well as AM57 specifics for Linux to DSP communication.
