Hello,

Is is possible to check (one way or another) whether a main function returned non-zero using the DSS generic loader? I can pass argument to main, but I do not seem to get access to the exit status. If this is not possible, is there an equivalent to exit(-1) which would result in a message different from NORMAL COMPLETION (then I can parse it).

Hello Thomas,

That is not supported with loadti by default. However the loadti script can be modified to support that. Please see the below link for more information about customizing loadti:

So a possible solution I see is to

* not use the rom/ram model but create my own boot.c where i store the result of the call to main in a global variable

* extend the main.js script to lookup the value of that global variable and use that as return code

Is this they way to go? Or am I missing something else?

Personally, I would go that route. That would require just some minimal rework of the script (add some lines to the script to halt the target to read the variable, print the value to the terminal, then resume execution).
