The synthesizer in the TRF3765 is the same IP that is in the TRF3720 so the lock time analysis is synonymous. The synthesizer has 4 different VCOs. Each VCO has 64 different cap array settings. The lock time is dependent on how far the frequency is changing. The slowest change is when the VCO must be changed. The next slowest is when only the cap array is changed. The fastest is when the VCO and cap array stays the same and just the Vtune is modified. You can pre-determine the VCO and cap array settings and load them via SPI. With this approach you are not using the internal calibration scheme which saves time, but you do need to absorb the SPI communication speed.
