TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE: Groundings

Part Number: TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE. Please see below for his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

I have a question about the TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE. It´s a question about the electrical design. The GND-Layer is not designed as a solid polygon, but as a net of straight traces. Is this better for the NFC-performance?

Why this hatched Design of the GND polygon is used in the TIDM-RF430-TEMPSENSE. Could it be better than a solid one due to the NFC-performance of the PCB-antenna?

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

the hatched design in the GND plane has nothing to do with the performance of the tag. The coupling of the reader and the tag is only a magnetic coupling and copper is a non magnetic material. I think the reason for this design is more production related.
