AFE7920EVM: Can I use this eval with Xilinx VCU118 board.

Part Number: AFE7920EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE7920

Hi,

We are planning to use AFE7920EVM for our testing with Xilinx VCU118 board.

For configuring the device, we are planning to use USB to SPI interface, available on AFE7920 eval board with the help of AFE7920 eval GUI, rather than using SPI interface available on FMC connector.

I think TI has used TSW14J56EVM for testing.

That's why I want to know whether we can use Xilinx VCU118 board for testing.

Also, are there options available in GUI for configuring AFE7920 for custom cases other than some pre-defined example use cases in the GUI?

For example, I want to test AFE7920 with four SerDes lanes at 24.33024 gbps. Is it possible?

An early response is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lalit

  • Hi TI Team,

    Any update on this.

    Thanks,

    Lalit

  • Hi Lalit,

The AFE7920 EVM has FMC based and support Vita 57 spec, which is the same standard adopted by the VCU118. I have looped in our catalog converters team to support your account.

  • Hi Lalit,

Like Kang mentioned the AFE79xxEVMs support the Vita 57 spec and can be used with the VCU118 board for testing.

To update the AFE configuration we recommend using one of the scripts , S1-S7, as a starting point and then you can update the script for your custom configuration. The usual changes will include updating the LMFS, Sampling Rate, and Dec/Int.

If you require assistance creating the custom script we can help generate one if you fill out the table below.
