AFE7921: TX/RX configuration

Part Number: AFE7921

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

I have a question from customer needed for your help.

Can two channel of TX/RX of AFE7921 be configured as FDD and the other two channel be configured as TDD?

BR,

Zach

  • Hi Zach,

Yes, AFE79xx devices can be configured with some channels as FDD and some channels as TDD. The customer can use the RX[A-D] TDD, FB[AB/CD] TDD, and TX[A-D] TDD GPIO pins to turn on/off the RX, FB, and TX enables; these GPIO may be configured as required by the customer using the GPIO mapping parameter in Latte. The customer can also configure the RX, FB, and TX NCO center frequencies using the rxNco, fbNco, and txNco parameters and configure the data rates using the ddcFactorRx, ddcFactorFb, and ducFactorTx parameters. Please refer to the configuration guide for more details on setting the parameters as desired.

For example, if the customer would like to use channels A/B in FDD mode and channels C/D in TDD mode, they can:

    Channels A/B (FDD)

    • Configure TX A/B NCO and RX A/B NCO mode to desired frequency such that TX freq != RX freq
    • Configure the data rate and bandwidth as desired
      • FadcRx / ddcFactorRx = RX data rate
      • Fdac / ducFactorTx = TX data rate
      • Bandwidth is approx. 81% of data rate
    • Tie RXATDD, RXBTDD, TXATDD, TXBTDD GPIO pins always high

    Channels C/D (TDD)

    • Configure TX A/B NCO and RX A/B NCO mode to desired frequency such that TX freq = RX freq
    • Configure the data rate and bandwidth as desired
      • FadcRx / ddcFactorRx = RX data rate
      • Fdac / ducFactorTx = TX data rate
      • Bandwidth is approx. 81% of data rate
    • Use GPIO pins such that when RXCTDD is high, TXCTDD is low, and when RXDTDD is high, TXDTDD is low

One other parameter for the customer to look at is modeTdd - depending on configuration, the customer can use one GPIO pin to control channel A and B TDD together. Please see the configuration guide for more details on this as well.

    Thanks,

    Aman

  • Hi ,

Can you please share who the customer is, and the use case of the project if possible? Thank you!
