AWR2243BOOST: Quality defects of AWR2243BOOST

Part Number: AWR2243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642BOOST

We bought a AWR2243BOOST on the Mouser. When we received it, we found that this product has been seriously corroded and after we connected the power, only one LED glowed.I wonder if I can return or exchange this product.

  • Hello User,

It is perfectly normal to see some rust/scratching on the surrounding surface of the antenna. This is due to the immersion silver finish, it is purely cosmetic and will not affect the performance of the antenna.

Now coming to the LEDs, as soon as the power is provided to the device, the NRST and 5-V LEDs glow, indicating that the board is powered up. From your screenshot, I can see the NRST Led glow, but not the 5V.

What is the rating of the power supply you're using here.

The 5V LED could also be broken.

To make sure, it works fine, could you refer to a similar thread below :

  • Hello

We tested this part, and the engineer feedback that this part doesn't work and can't get the data and  SPI communication also doesn't work.

We also tested IWR1642Boost in the same way, and this worked fine.

  • Hello Mandy,

Thankyou for your inputs. I have a few questions, please help me understand that.

We tested this part, and the engineer feedback that this part doesn't work and can't get the data and  SPI communication also doesn't work.

How did they check this? Were they using mmWave studio for this purpose? Can they see relevant of number of COM ports when they connect the two boards to the PC?

Also, were they able to probe the VBGAP pin on C56 and see ~0.9V?

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello

    1、mmWave studio can't work.

2、Connection mode can only be connected to FPGA mode or config mode, not to the available mode; And there is no response after clicking the “postproc“” button, and the data cannot be updated.

3、We can probe the VBGAP pin on C56 and see ~0.9V

And there are very obvious scratches and screw marks on the surface of this part.So we still want to return or exchange this product.

  • Hello Mandy,

I can understand. Since you purchased the board through Mouser, you would have to reach out to them for any kind of exchange or replacements.
