TMCS1100: Simulation error - MA are being sunk / sourced during fast transient

Part Number: TMCS1100

I am currently planning on using the TMCS1100A2 device, located on the high side of my power supply.

Preceding the TMCS1100 is a protection MOSFET. When the Protection MOSFET goes open circuit, causing a fast negative slew rate in the current though the TMCS1100, the TMCS1100 sources / sinks a huge amount of current, i.e. >1 MA....this appears to be an issue with the model  when simulated in the high side mode, as this does not happen if it is used on the low side (i.e. grounded).

I am  currently using the PSpice model, within LTSpice XVII.

Kind regards

Graeme

  • Hello Graeme,

Are you saying the current goes through IN+ and IN- pins.  Could this be just due to inductance in the circuit and the sudden opening of the FET?  Have you tried replacing the TMCS1100A2 with a 1.8mΩ resistor.  This will let you know if it is the sudden change and the parasitic that is causing the spike in current.  How long is the current spike?
