Hi Team,

The photosensitive area of OPT3007 is facing downwards.

The FPC is used on the datasheet.

Please help with two issues:

1.Is it possible to use FR4 instead of FPC? The application scenario is a video doorbell.

2. The photosensitive surface is facing down, whether there will be any blockage and dirt on the photosensitive surface. If so, how to avoid it? Thanks.

Hello Charlie,

The reason that a FPCB is recommended is because of the board thickness. An opening needs to be created in the board and the thickness of the board will have a large impact on the sensor Field-of-View. This, as well as your other question is answered in the video we produced (link below).

Hi Rahland,

Thanks for your support. In the video doorbell, it may not be convenient to use FPCB.

I saw from the Application note that the price of OPT3002 has an advantage, but customer feedback, OPT3002 is sensitive to red light and cannot be used.

If using FR4, is there any recommended device? Thanks.

Hello Charlie,

The OPT3004DTS is a released device that has infrared rejection that is needed for video doorbell applications. However, the OPT3005 is a device especially made for the video surveillance applications which have increased IR rejection. I suggest to start with the OPT3005 and OPT3004.
