AWRL6432: Variation of the transmission output of the Chirp signal

Part Number: AWRL6432

Team,

While investigating the frequency characteristics, my customer found that the transmit power tends to increase from the start to the end of the Chirp signal. This is not a frequency characteristic of the IC since the transmit power is different even at the same frequency, I believe.
Customer would like to know the reason for the phenomenon where the transmit power increases from the start to the end of the Chirp signal.

Could I have your comment on this?

Nonaka

  • HI, Nonaka:

This could be related to the RF calibration procedure.  Can you provide more details for this measurement?  Are they using mmwaveStudio or out-of-box demo to configure the device?  If mmwaveStudio is used, can they send out the two LUA scripts?  If OOB demo is used, can they send out the two configuration files?

  • Hi,

my apologies for the late reply. Attached the config file customer is using. the chirpTimingCfg->chirpRfFreqStart 60 & 59.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Hi, Nonaka:

Can you try to use the following calibration configuration on one of the chirp to do the calibration and save the calibration results.

    factoryCalibCfg 1 0 40 0 0x1ff000

and then use the following calibration configuration to restore the last calibration.

    factoryCalibCfg 0 1 40 0 0x1ff000

Let me know if it helps.

    Best,

    Zigang
