Part Number: MMWAVE-DEVPACK
I ran mmwave_link.exe in CMD and received "mmWave Device Power on failed for deviceMap 1 with error -8".
What caused this error?
All LEDs on mmwave -devpack are on except DS4, and DS1 looks on.
Hi Raghu,
I was trying to flash the firmware to AWR1243BOOST and faced some issue during the flash process.
Radar studio configurations were correctly set below, but once I clicked "Flash", the command window showed up and quickly disappeared.
The port 12 should be a correct port. I am going to try to do one more time next week.
Hello Naoyuki-san,
The "COM12" is the right port but looks like it is not connected.
As an alternative use the "FlashProgrammer" utility that is available in the "MMWAVE-DFP".
Please go though the readme.txt in "$mmwave-dfp-install\rf_eval\radarstudio\FlashProgrammer\readme.txt" on how to execute the flash programmer.
Please check if below commands are there in "XWR1xxx_Package.txt" file and execute "mmwaveprog_cmdline.exe" as mentioned in readme.txt
FORMAT,SFLASH
$mmwave-dfp-install\firmware\radarss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin,BSS_BUILD,SFLASH
$mmwave-dfp-install\firmware\masterss\xwr12xx_masterss.bin,MSS_BUILD,SFLASH
$mmwave-dfp-install\firmware\masterss\xwr12xx_memswap.bin,CONFIG_INFO,SFLASH
Please note when using the "mmwaveprog_cmdline.exe" , remove MMWAVE-DEVPACK and just connect the "AWR1243BOOST" to the PC.
Regards,
Raghu

Hello Naoyuki-san,
The standard flashing tool we would like the customers to use is "Uniflash".
"Uniflash" should be your preferred method to flash the firmware to the device.

Hi Raghu,
Thank you for your suggestions. I could flash the firmware to AWR1243 successfully.
but I took out SOP2 jumper, left the SOP0 jumper, connected mmWave DevPack, ran mmwavelink_example.exe, and still saw the same error.
"mmWave Device Poer on failed for deviceMap 1 with error -8".
Do you think there is something wrong DevPack board?
I forgot telling one thing, when I received Devpack board, R108 100Kohms register is missing so I put the register on the board by myself.
Hi Raghu
I ran mmwavelink_example.exe without any connection to RadarStudio/Uniflash and still saw the same error.
I also removed R108 register just in case to ran one more time, and saw the different error below, and PC didnt recongnized mmWavePack via USB.
only DS6 LED on mmWavePack was on.
Once I put R108 register again, USB connections of 4 AR-DevPack-EVM-012 from mmWavePack was established but I saw the same error "mmWave Device Power on failed for deviceMap 1 with error -8".
I am guessing something wrong in DevPack. mmWave Device Power in error message is mentioning to DevPack?
Hello,
The reason of error you are facing because you are flashing the wrong version of MSS/BSS firmware. If you want to flash firmware on AWR1243 EVM then you need to choose FW from '$DFP_install_path/firmware/masterss' and '$DFP_install_path/firmware/radarss' directory.
Moreover, when you run mmwavelink_example.exe it will download these firmwares over SPI, so before running this example erase the sFlash fully and then run this mmwavelink_example.exe.

Jitendra
Hi Jitendra,
I erased the firmware of AWR1243 first using UniFlash tool and it was done succefully. Please see the command lines below.
after that, you selected firnwares below. I believed these were right firmware to use, but again, I disconnected UniFlash, and connected AWR1243BOOST to mmWavePack with PC, the same error showed up after ran mmwavelink_example.exe. The mmwave DFP installed to my PC is 00_07_00_04.
