AWR1243: 20 GHz LO Sync Pins Connectivity

Part Number: AWR1243

Hi,

according to SWRA574A two combinations of Pins is used in 20GHz LO,For the convenience of PCB layout I did not follow the recommended Pin connectivity:Master LO output use  "FM_CW_SYNCOUT" and LO input use "FM_CW_SYNCIN1" for both master and slave, will this degrade Awr1243 performance?

how can i choose and set the LO input/output Pin(enable, disable )?

Best Regards,

  • I read on the forum that:'FM_CW_SYNCIN2' is not supported in DFP?
  • Hello Min,
You can use either FM_CW_SYNCIN1 or FM_CW_SYNCIN2 , both are always enabled and both would work. You need to terminate the unused SYNCIN pin to GND.
Regarding the 20Ghz o/p pins, the reason we use both FM_CW_SYNCOUT and FM_CW_CLKOUT is because we need to drive 4 devices. Using a single pin to supply all 4 devices would reduce the SYNIN signal level reaching the devices. If you are using only 2 chip cascade then only one of the pins is sufficient.

    Regards,
    Vivek
