AWR1642BOOST-ODS: TIDA-020011 point cloud visualizer

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST-ODS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-020011, TIDA-01570

Created as new thread on request.

Regarding programming and debugging this board

I want to compare the performance of custom board created using your TIDA-020011 and AWR1642BOOST-ODS  - i.e using the point cloud visualizer

To get this data out from this board to computer, I have a separate USB to UART board (NON XDS110).

I don't need the CAN functionality, can those ports be converted to UART ? or

or in  header J2

the P10,N10,R11,N13 can they be used for flashing a program and subsequently used as UART.

  • Krishna,

Check out TIDA-01570 and the associated documentation and software available with it. We have software for object data output from CAN. That design also has a high density connector for raw data output. TIDA-020011 heavily used this design as a reference, and the major changes are the different antenna and removal of high density connector. There may be some more reference info you're looking for related to your design there as well.

The ports used for CAN-FD output can also be used for general UART data output, if you'd prefer that.

If you want UART, you should definitely pin out the UART pins to that pin header as was done on TIDA-01570. That will also make debug and programming much easier. We used a JTAG programming work-around for TIDA-020011, and we may end up updating that to use the UART pins for programming instead.
