TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Multiple Transducers and Onboard bandpass filter

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hi,

I want to know if i can measure the level with two different transducer in the same EVM. And, how could i avoid the Onboard bandpass filter, which limits the use only for transducers with frequencies between 1 - 2 MHz ?

Best regards,
Alexandre.

  • Hello,

This will not be possible if the transducer are of different frequencies and require different band-pass filters. If you use two same kind then you need two devices or two EVMs to do this. You will also need to sequence the bursting and receiving so as to not overlap the bursting. If the two bursts overlap then it will not be possible to tell if the reflected echo is from transducer A or transducer B. This is assuming that the reflected echo is in the filed of view of both transducers.

  • Sorry, i didn't understand. I can't use a transducer that frequency is not between 1 - 2 MHz?

  • Hello,

You can use a transducer within the range supported by TDC1000. However the band-pass filter components need to be changed to correspond to the transducer to use. The data sheet describes the function of the bandpass filter.

The bandpass filter is required for performance to remove noise and other out of band signal otherwise the noise floor of the measurements will be very high.
