TMP303: output-pin termination

Part Number: TMP303

Hi,

I have a plan to useTMP303 as temperature fuse.

Is OUT-pin fixed to certain value (H or L) when the Power is ON?. I need to know whether pulldown resistor needed or not,

since I want to use it as an input to digital device. In my understanding, it is, since the temperature is already fixed to a certain value

when Power-ON.

Thank you

  • Dear Sainer -

The OUT pin of the TMP303 is a push-pull, active-high output. When the measured temperature is beyond the trip point range, and the Set Output High (SOH) pin is low, the OUT pin is high. The SOH pin is an input pin with an internal pulldown resistor. When the SOH pin is forced high, the OUT pin goes high regardless of the measured temperature. The pin functions table on page 3 of the datasheet also states a pull-up is not required. This means that the OUT pin is pulled low by default. Figure 7 on page 7 also shows the pin is low on power up. Hope that helps you out.

  • Hello Josh,

    This is very helpful.

    Thank you so much.
