IWR6843: What is the difference between IWR6843ISK and IWR6843ISK-ODS?

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , MMWAVEICBOOST,

What is the difference between IWR6843ISK and IWR6843ISK-ODS?

  • Hi Yuhao,

The ISK and ODS boards have two different antennas.  The ISK has a longer rage antenna with a narrower field of view.  The ODS is useful for overhead mounting, with shorter range but larger FOV.

  • Thanks.

We are interested in human gesture recognition. Are you recommending IWR6843ISK-ODS? because I saw that you did falling rcognition experiment with IWR6843ISK-ODS, if IWR6843ISK can also make it?if it's ok,which one is easier?

  • Hi Yuhao,

We recommend using the IWR6843ISK-ODS for this.  The ODS board has a better angular resolution in the azimuth and elevation, which is useful for gesture detection.  You can find more information about gesture detection in this demo.

  • After discussing with my teammates, we have decided to buy your excellent products. However, before we buy them, we still have three questions that need your help.
Question 1: I found in your experiment (demo1)that you can get the point cloud through the IWR6843ISK-ODS and MMWAVEICBOOST,And we don't need extra processing and just follow the demo weill display the point cloud? In addition, can the four-dimensional data (data - position in X, Y, Z, and velocity.) be acquired so that we can processed them to Detecting Human Falls and Stance ?
Question 2:We find these device need the DATA UART speed up to 921600(Baud rate),but our pc just up to 128000,so,these will lead to failure?if we just set to 128000,the device wont work?
Question 3:From your experiment(demo2),we find you can detect Respiration rate and heart rate by IWR6843ISK,whether we can use IWR6843ISK-ODS to make it,at the same time ,we can also switch mode to Detect Human Falls and Stance ?
Ok ,thats all.We do appreciate your reply.Thanks.
