Remote Temperature Sensors — Why am I reading a temperature measurement of -256, -64, 0, 127,191, or 256 °C?
Consistent extreme readings such as -256, -64, 0, 127, 191, and 256 °C are usually caused by an open or short on the remote temperature sensor pins (D+, D- or DXP, DXN). Other causes include extremely high series resistances or capacitance on these pins that are outside our recommendations. Please see the device’s datasheet for max series resistance and capacitance.
