Hello,

I have a problem with my DCA1000EVM and AWR1443BOOST boards. I want to use the MMWAVE-STUDIO to capture data from the DCA1000EVM. I have connected the boards with 60-pin socket, set the SOP at the AWR1443BOOST (SOP0 and SOP1 short-circuited, SOP2 open-circuited), and I have set up the switches on board the DCA1000EVM (Switch 1 and Switch 2) according to the User Guide.

Upon starting the MMWAVE-STUDIO, I reset the board, connect to the RS232 port, load the files, but then SPI connect button fails to respond and connect the SPI. Then, I push the "RF power up" button and I get this error message: ""[RadarAPI]: Error: ReadRegister failed with error -2".

I have followed religiously the instruction of the User Guide.

What do I need to do in order to solve my problem?

Please refer to the DCA1000 Debug Handbook for more information on your error messages: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/872161

For your AWR1443BOOST EVM, make sure the SPI/CAN switch is set to the SPI position.

I have already downloaded and read the DCA1000 Debug Handbook. It is not mentioning the error message that I get ( I remind: "[RadarAPI]: Error: ReadRegister failed with error -2").

Also, of course I have already checked the SPI/CAN switch and it is already set to the SPI position. So, this does not offer any solution either.

Have you read the DCA1000 Debug Handbook?

I put the DCA1000 Handbook together myself. So please do not dismiss this recommendation offhandedly.

Since you are using the AWR1443, you may need to erase the flash memory using Uniflash before attempting to load the functional firmware in mmWave Studio. This suggestion is offered in the DCA1000 Handbook.

Of course, page 6, table "Firmware Version", entry 3. As I told you, I have already read the DCA1000 Debug Handbook.

Still, no solution to my problem.

Stelios,

It looks like your issue is with the SPI Connect step, not the RF power up step. So while mmWave Studio does provide the error message "Error: ReadRegister failed with error -2", that actual issue at play is the SPI Connect step.

You can consult the sections in the DCA1000 Handbook regarding SPI Connect errors. In the meantime, I will wait for images of your physical setup and complete console output.
