AWR1642BOOST: mmWave radar sensors and mmWave Studio

What is the lowest sampling rate that can be set using mmWave Studio to AWR1642BOOST? and how it can be done? (The lowest I could set from the sensor configuration page is 200,000 samples/sec).

If it can't go below that number, what is the most suitable product in the mmWave Radar family for low sampling rate applications (such as vital signs detection)?

Finally, is it possible to connect multiple Radar EVMs to one computer? and how?

Ahmad,

The lowest sampling rate in mmWave Studio appears to be 200 ksps. This is done in the "SensorConfig" tab of mmWave Studio.

The driver vital signs lab found in the Automotive Toolbox uses a sampling rate of 2 Msps.

Ahmad,

Do keep in mind that with a sampling rate of 200 ksps, it would take approximately 320 microseconds to capture 64 ADC samples. 64 samples is the minimum number of ADC samples per chirp required by the firmware. So instead, I would recommend increasing the sampling rate to at least 2 Msps.

And yes, it is possible to connect more than one mmWave EVM to a single PC, but this is not recommended. It can potentially strain PC resources when attempting to run multiple MATLAB demos on a single PC.

Could you please provide me with references on how to connect multiple EVMs to a single PC? I will be using it sequentially so hopefully there won't be straining to the PC resources.

Ahmad,

You can search through the E2E forum and see if anyone else has tried this in the past. TI does not have a reference on connecting multiple EVMs to a single PC because this is not our typical use case.

You will likely need to investigate this on your own.
