AWR2243: AWR2243: PMIC_CLK connect sync_clk of DC/DC? it can reduce disturb of DC/DC power for receive channel of RF?

Part Number: AWR2243

Hello team,

    two question:

   1. how frequency of PMIC_CLK? datasheet says PMIC_CLK is dithered clk, that mean connect PMIC_CLK with sync_clk of DC/DC(this DC/DC provide power for AWR2243, it can reduce disturb of power to RF, is it right?

   2. my system use 4 pcs AWR2243, I only use PMIC_CLK of master AWR2243 for sync_clk of DC/DC( 2 pcs DC/DC supply RF power), is it ok?

   thanks!

  • Hello Simon,

Our expert will review your concern and get back by tomorrow.

    Thankyou for your patience.

  • Hello Simon,

You are right, the PMIC CLKOUT from the AWR device could be connected to SYNC IN of the DC/DC. It does has option to be modulated so that its not at a fixed frequency. Typically this is needed only if your PCB has coupling due to the DC/DC switching. We recommend that you provide appropriate filtering on the supply so that fundamentally there is no issue and you don't have to use the PMIC CLKOUT.

Incase you do end up needing to use PMIC CLKOUT you can refer to the Interface Control Document (https://software-dl.ti.com/ra-processors/esd/MMWAVE-DFP-2G/latest/exports/mmWave-Radar-Interface-Control.pdf) and refer to the ": AWR_DEV_PMICCLOCK_CONF_SET_SB" API that explains the programming options. The frequency selection amount of frequency modulation depends on the what kind of SYNC IN clk your PMIC can accept.

Incase of 4 chip cascade solution you can use the PMIC CLKOUT from the master , the other devices are anyway synchronized to the master.

    Regards,

    Vivek
