Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP117, TMP116
Is there any way to change the POR defaults on the tmp461?

Hi Jason,
The default register values of the TMP461 are fixed and cannot be changed. If a different value than the startup values are desired, then they must be programmed in after the device is powered on.
Some of our local temperature sensing devices such as the TMP116 and TMP117 do have EEPROM that can be programmed with new POR register values, but the TMP461 does not include this feature.

Hi Jason,
We do not have any parts in our catalog right now that are both Radiation Hardened and allow for user set POR values.
Are you able to elaborate a little on your use case? For example, are you wanting the device to powerup with different temperature limits than the TMP461 defaults?

Hi Brandon,
Basically I'd like to use the TMP461 or other device to make a programmable solid state thermostat for space applications.
I'd use it to drive a FET to turn on and off a heater.
Ideally I could program the setpoints before its installed so it could be used for a surival heater and does not require other electronics on the spacecraft to program the setpoint.
For operational heater programming the setpoints during flight would acceptable, but that would be less desirable for a survival heater.
It would be great to have one design for thermostats that you could just burn in the desired setpoint/hysteresis and install it.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Thank you very much for elaborating.
As I said we don't currently have a product that meets those requirements, but one of my colleagues should be reaching out to you via email with a potential solution.
