SN74CB3T3306: Spec check

Part Number: SN74CB3T3306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC2G66, SN74CB3Q3306A

 Hi

Customer has a question SN74CB3T3306 I want to use OE# to switch SMBUS, can both sides of A and B be +3.3V?

The schematic diagram is as follows: A and B are both +3.3V. The purpose is to use the OE pin to choose whether to conduct or not

  • If you use this device with both sides at the same voltage, then you should use pull-up resistors on both sides to ensure a proper high-level voltage.

It would be cheaper and easier to use a plain switch like the SN74LVC2G66 or SN74CB3Q3306A.

  • Hi Gareth,

I agree with Clemens's response here. A simple pull up resistor on both sides will ensure functionality of the circuit.

If you don't need level shifting then a plain analog switch like the SN74LVC2G66 or SN74CB3Q3306A would indeed be easier to work with.

    Thanks!

    Alex
